McTimoney Chiropractic Bracknell Hornets are pleased to announce that 39 year old Adam Bicknell returns to the Hornets for the 2019/20 Season.
Adam is no stranger to Bracknell having started in Bracknell playing Ice Hockey in 2005-06 Season with the Bracknell Bees where he played 45 games in the EPIHL League scoring 10 goals, assisted to 25 and sat for a total of 26 minutes in the sin bin before moving onto the playoffs where he played a further 7 games and assisted to 6 goals.
Bicknell had continued with the Bees where he was appointed as captain for the next 2 seasons and played in the EPIHL for 47 games where he scored 8 goals and assisted to 28 along with sitting for a total of 85 minutes of penalties along with playing with the Basingstoke Bisons in 2007-08 season where he played for only 2 games.
He then continued back with the Bees for a further 2 season as Assistant Captain for the 2008-09 season having played a total of 73 games, scored a total of 14 goals and assisted to 32 along with sitting for a total of 77 minutes.
Adam took a year out from playing Ice Hockey before returning with the Swindon Wildcats for the 2011-12 Season where he only played 3 games and sat for a single penalty for 2 minutes. He then also didn’t play for 4 seasons.
Bicknell returned to the ice 2 seasons ago with the Bracknell Hornets where he has now played a total of 33 games, scored a total of 12 goals and assisted to 25 and sat for a total of 44 minutes with 32 of those were sat last season.
Now signed on the dotted line, Adam says “ I’m honoured to be asked to return for another season with the Hornets, albeit just to add some cover throughout the season. I have also joined Team Stripes, so will be focusing on learning this side of the game, alongside skating with the boys. I’m getting on a bit now, so it’s great to have the opportunity to do both for a season.
The new team got a skate in before the summer and Mark has put together a group of men with a great blend of youth, experience and character. It will be especially nice to grab another season with old teammates, Matt Foord and Dom Hopkins, as well as the young boys who are always good fun to play alongside.
The new league provides this team with an opportunity to prove themselves at a higher level and play in competitive fixtures, every night. There certainly won’t be any nights off and I am sure this team can rise to the challenge.”
After signing Bicknell, Head Coach Mark Saunders said “Having someone like Adam on our team with his experience and leadership is invaluable at this level and he’s shown that over the past two seasons playing for the Hornets. With the new league set up he wants to stay involved in the playing side and still has the competitive hunger for the game, so a player/injury cover role will work best for him after our talks and will also work well alongside his new officiating career.
He adds to our core group of leadership and will be helping to guide the new group of younger players coming through who want to make an impression this season and I could’t think of many better in the game to have in the team.”
