New Player Signed with the Hornets

Bracknell Hornets Head Coach, Mark Saunders, is thrilled to announce the signing of 23-year-old forward, Tamás Éliás.

Tamás started his hockey career in the 2009/10 season at Swindon in the EIHA South Under 16s league, finishing in 2012. He played 36 fixtures, getting 9 pucks into the net and assisting a further 22, while only sitting 8 penalty minutes in total.

In 2012/13 Tamás continued at Swindon with the Under 18s, playing 17 games with 16 goals, 18 assists and 28 penalty minutes.

Tamás then made the move to Cardiff playing in the NIHL 2 Team, Cardiff Satans in 2013/14 and the Cardiff Devils in the EIHA South Under 18s league, playing a total of 32 games, scoring 25 goals, assisting to 27 and sat for 26 penalty minutes during his season.

From 2014 to the end of last season, Tamas had been playing between Cardiff teams in the NIHL 1 & NIHL 2 Leagues. He played a total of 127 games, scored 48 goals with 16 from 2018/19 season, assisting to 53 with 19  also from the 2018/19 season and having only sat for 110 minutes with just over half being sat during the 2017/18 season.

Upon signing Tamás, he says

I would like to thank Cardiff fire for everything they have done for me not only this year but since joining in the under 18s. When first joining Cardiff, ice hockey was just a hobby which quickly developed into passion. I am grateful to have been a part this experience and would like to thank everyone for the time and effort they have invested in me. Best of luck in the next season!

Joining Bracknell Hornets is going to be great! Going to train hard, aim high and achieve big! Another massive thanks to Mark and the team for accepting me into the Hornets and I can’t wait to join the boys on the ice. From what has been said we have a strong team this season and it’s going to be more competitive and exciting and I can’t wait to be part of it. Here is to a new season and a new chapter.”

 Head Coach Saunders comments

Tamas is a great pick up for us and he plays the game with tenacity and an intensity that will fit in well with our team this season. He has great stick handling skills and is a natural goal scorer so we will be looking for Tamas to continue his development and put pucks in the net at a higher rate for the 2019-20 season. He has a desire to push himself further and a drive to improve and coupled with our new team setup, I’m hoping this will be another player who can make a big impact for the Hornets in the upcoming season.

Tonight we are also pleased to announce the release of Tamás’ Jersey Sponsorship for £100 each or both his home and away for £150. If you would like to take part in this amazing opportunity, please contact us at BracknellHornetsIHC@gmail.com. Be quick though, before it’s too late.
